James Campbell Claims First PBA Title at 2025 USBC Super Senior Classic

Las Vegas, Nevada – James Campbell, a 61-year-old from Loudon, Tennessee, clinched his inaugural Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) national title at the 2025 USBC Super Senior Classic, held at Sam’s Town Bowling Center on June 8, 2025.

Campbell’s path to victory was challenging. After a shaky start in Thursday’s qualifying round, tying for 118th, he recalibrated his approach. “I was too stiff, forcing my shots,” Campbell admitted to pba.com. Revisiting notes from the prior year, he switched to a trusted bowling ball, leveraging his signature hook to excel on worn lanes, boosting his performance over six games.

In group play, Campbell went 3-3 in match play, securing third in Group B. On Sunday, he advanced through the group stepladder, defeating Amleto Monacelli 214-197 and Carlos Denot 222-180 to earn the No. 4 seed for the finals. Facing PBA50 veterans, Campbell shone in the stepladder finals, first besting Parker Bohn III 248-224, then dominating John Burkett 279-214 with nine consecutive strikes. In the championship match, he edged out top seed Pete Weber 201-193, claiming the $8,000 prize.

“Beating legends like Pete, Parker, and Amleto in one day feels unreal,” Campbell said, crediting his success to finding a consistent shot. As coach of Tennessee Wesleyan University’s bowling team, he emphasized perseverance, a lesson reflected in his triumph. This victory surpassed his previous best, a second-place finish at the 2022 PBA50 Cup.

The USBC Super Senior Classic, for bowlers 60 and older, showcased Campbell’s grit. The PBA50 Tour now moves to the USBC Senior Masters, running through June 8 at Sam’s Town, streamed live on BowlTV.

Campbell’s win highlights the power of persistence, inspiring bowlers and fans alike as he celebrates a milestone that echoes beyond the lanes.
